We offer a range of midge-management solutions for dealing with nuisance midges, given that we are ideally placed in Scotland. These same approaches can also be used to design management solutions for other insects (including mosquitoes) upon request.
No single insect problem is the same and it is unlikely to be solved with a unilateral approach. APSEC offers sound knowledge of the target insects, their behaviour and life cycle patterns and can use this information to develop effective management programmes.
Our mission is to develop and implement management solutions for insect pest problems associated with humans and livestock. We will carry out an initial technical survey, from which a management programme will be recommended. If appropriate, we will design protocols, and implement, monitor and report on the proposed programme. Alternately, we can provide training to in-house personnel or contract the appropriate external services.

Basic Trap positioning
We recommend this for small businesses. We can supply traps and recommend on their location in relation to midge breeding, emergence and resting sites. We can do this using photographs or drawings, or a site visit if necessary.
Site visit
We will visit the site to visually inspect the area, take photos and create an annotated map with appropriate advise on trap placement. We can also accurately assess midge breeding sites and sample the soil for larvae. We can also supply traps as required.
Complete midge management
This is aimed at larger businesses that require professional midge management. Here, in addition to the above, we will assess your needs, provide traps, create “midge barriers” and offer hands-on support and advice in their use.
